Jamie came to the yard in December 2014 with experience gained at various racing yards, including latterly Nick Williams. Jamie rides out but is also in charge of the veterinary issues and the welfare of the horses. He is very conscientious about his work and thoroughly checks each horse weekly, reporting any issues to our vet Eugenio. He is also on hand for any of the riders or yard managers to ask if they are concerned with their horses. He oversees both yards and reports to Lucinda and Scu on each horse at their daily meetings. Jamie was the HorseScotland Employee Of The Year in 2019. Jamie loves a day at a point to point in his spare time and riding in his local common riding festival, enjoying the festivities with friends and family.
Assistant Trainer & Travelling Head Girl
Jaimie rode out at Arlary while still at school and joined in 1995, many years ago and is our longest serving member of staff. Jaimie has covered all of the jobs in a race yard, and in 2000 she became Lucinda's Assistant Trainer. With the expansion of the yard in 2013 Jaimie became responsible for planning the travel logistics and the race day organisation. Jaimie often does the long distance travelling and will oversee their work if they are away from home. Jaimie is a most positive and supportive team member and has the welfare of the horse at the heart of her day. Having been here since we started Jaimie is an important part of the team and is the rock for the staff, jockeys, owners and trainer. She has made a huge contribution to the success of Arlary House Stables, and was recognised with a final three place in the Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Dedication To Racing Award in 2019
Head Girl at Arlary
Ciorstaidh became head Girl of Arlary in November 2016. She oversees the running of the yard and horse welfare. With a degree in bio-veterinary Science from Lincoln her help is invaluable. She has also begun to study for her masters in Equine Science at Edinburgh while still maintaining a high standard at the yard. In her spare time, she breeds her own spotty horses and plays the odd game of netball.
Head Girl At Kilduff
Jordan joined us at the beginning of July 2013 having just completed her final year at school. Coming from a showing background, this is her first experience working with racehorses and she has adapted well to a different way of doing things. She completed her nine week foundation course at the British Racing School in August 2013 and then returned here as a full time member of staff. Jordan has impressed us so much in her organisational abilities that while at first she was promoted to yard manager at Kilduff she rapidly became an assistant head girl there. In May 2016 Jordan took on full responsibility at Kilduff, overseeing all the barns, the daily routines and care of the horses and the veterinary recuperation care. Jordan enjoys going to music gigs in her spare time, she shares Scu's following of Slash, and riding her ex racehorse Crackerjack Lad who she hopes to compete in Retraining Of Racehorse classes, and her successful show horse Camsdale Foxy Lady.
Tracy first joined Lucinda Russell Racing as Racing Secretary in 2008 and worked for us for 10 years before leaving towards the end of 2018. She returned to the yard after a year away and her current responsibilities include running the office on a daily basis and dealing with any issues related to ownership such as helping to set up and organise syndicates. Tracy also takes care of owner hospitality and was in charge of running our box at the Cheltenham Festival. Away from work she has two ex-racehorses stabled at home and enjoys spending time with her granddaughter Sophie and walking and working her labradors.
Fiona is our accounts and racing secretary, working part time and overseeing the accounts, invoicing, credit control and staff wage roll. She also administers a couple of our racing partnerships and sorts out the VAT returns in conjunction with Weatherbys. Fiona fits in many activities to her spare time, including part time accounting for a gundog training and breeding kennels, and she is a supervisor selling Herbalife a nutritional and lifestyle program. Fiona also showjumps one of our ex racehorses Ballybill, and in any spare time, she enjoys running in the hills with her faithful labrador Molly.
Carey And Ute Williams
Water Treadmill Operators
The water treadmill is a big part of our operation here at Lucinda Russell Racing. Up to twenty horses a day use the facility and it is run solely by husband and wife team Carey and Ute Williams.
Carey and Scu have known each other for a long time as Carey was an apprentice to Scu’s father in the 1970’s. Carey and Ute moved back to the UK after Carey finished his time at a German Stud called Gestuet Park Wiedingen. Carey brings a lifetime of horse knowledge and is superb at introducing the horses to the water treadmill. Being calm and caring with each horse they are carefully introduced to the machine and given time to condition to it.
Ute is at each 7 o'clock morning meeting to discuss the horses and the different aims with each one that day. Her organisational abilities are second to none and having made a daily list of horses to be on the treadmill, she helps Carey prepare the horses. At the end of each day Ute sends through a report of each horse including any stiffnesses or alteration in their action.
With the sharp eye and depth of horse sense of both Carey and Ute we can monitor each horse on the water treadmill and catch any movement or health issues however minor.
Carey and Ute are also the heart of the team at Kilduff providing support and warming soup for all of the staff there.
